[Upcoming] TECNO Camon X to feature Face ID and Intelligent Selfie Camera

Tecno Mobile is set to unveil a new smartphone, with the (currently known) highlights of the device being: a special type of high-quality selfie camera and the Face ID facial recognition unlock technology. At this point, no codename can be confidently attached to the upcoming smartphone, but as expected, TECNO mobile has started teasing its fans with some expected specifications via its social media handle.

And so far, we noticed that on the soon-to-be-launched device, TECNO Mobile is:

Sticking to industry’s latest innovation

The TECNO Camon CM (otherwise called Camon CMore) was TECNO Mobile’s first device of the 2018 business year, and it came in an 18:9 aspect ratio — one of the phone industry’s latest design trend. The 18:9 aspect ratio allows for bigger screens on smartphones without unnecessarily interfering with the overall phone size.

The Camon CMore was super sleek (as evidenced in this review), it is also expected that the upcoming Tecno smartphone will also come in the full-view, bezel-less 18:9 aspect ratio.

Bringing new tech onboard — with Facial Recognition

On this unnamed device, TECNO Mobile has teased the facial recognition feature. Popularly know as Face ID, the video below —as shared by the OEM— reveals that TECNO mystery device will have the facial recognition feature which will take device unlock to a whole new level. “Unlock at a glance!”, the OEM says.Smart selfie camera

The lens size, megapixels, aperture and other parameters of the front-facing camera remains unknown but what we know that on the upcoming TECNO smartphone, taking a selfie just got easier. Save yourself the energy of clicking the shutter icon and just say the alphabet “X” – BOOM! Your selfie will be captured.

Quick Focus on selfie

Asides the quick and easy selfie capture property of this upcoming TECNO smartphone, the front-facing camera will likewise exert more detailed focus on subjects to be captured.

Android Oreo out-of-the-box

Similar to what Infinix is trying to achieve with the Infinix Hot S3, TECNO Mobile’s upcoming TECNO Camon X will come running the Android v8.0 Oreo out-of-the-box. This will position the device as the first smartphone from the OEM to run such OS straight out of the factory.

A cooling mechanism

You know how phones get really warmed up during intense usage? Well, that doesn’t seem like something you’d experience on the new device to be launched soon by TECNO Mobile. While information on this feature is still pretty much vague, it is believed that there is some sort of “fridge-like” cooling mechanism that will keep the device at ambient temperature and enhance smooth running of processes on the device.

We guess that the device will most likely be codenamed the “TECNO X” or “TECNO Camon X” and from the above details, it is evident the upcoming device will have a very powerful front-facing camera which will have the function of taking high quality and well-focused selfies, and likewise device unlock via facial recognition.

TECNO Camon X

The device will be launched on April 5th, 2018 and rumours have it that the TECNO Camon X (my bets —and intuition— are on this codename) will be yet another addition to the “Camon” series in 2018, following the Camon CM.

Before the official launch date, we expect TECNO Mobile to churn out more details, teasers, features about the TECNO Camon X or TECNO X. Or perhaps image leaks. Any info the device we get hold of, we will update here ASAP.
