Infinix Hot S3 launched with 18:9 ratio, Snapdragon SoC & Android 8 Oreo

It’s already 3 months in 2018 and Infinix Mobility has deemed it fit to unveil its first (long-awaited) product of the year. The device, Infinix Hot S3 was launched yesterday, March 22 and like most of the other phones from the OEM, the Hot S3 also launched with juicy specs and unique features that previous products from the company lacks.

The Infinix Hot S3 is an upgrade to previous devices —like the Infinix Hot S, Hot S2 and Hot S2 Pro— in the brand’s “Hot S” series of smartphones. Devices in Infinix’s Hot SS series are particularly known for the possession of top-of-the-line front facing camera. If you are on the look for an Infinix smartphone with badass selfie camera, the Hot S series is the right place to trim your search.

Listed below are some features the Infinix Hot S3 boasts of:

Infinix Hot S3 In-depth Specifications

Display & Design

The Infinix Hot S3 is a sleek, good-looking, slim and lengthy smartphone – as it always is with any device rocking the 18:9 aspect ratio. And for the record, the Hot S3 is the first smartphone from Infinix Mobility to have this design form and aspect ratio.

You would most likely be impressed with how much ease it is to operate the device with one hand despite the phablet-sized display sized.

Speaking of display, the Infinix Hot S3 sports a 5.7-inch display –slightly curved on both edges– with an HD+ (720 x 1440 pixels) resolution. Having used the Infinix Note 4 with the same display parameters, I can say for sure that the display quality is good enough; image, colour and picture quality will come out as clean and original as they are.

Performance, Storage & Memory

A Snapdragon 430 SoC by Qualcomm powers the Infinix Hot S3. The chip features an Adreno 505 graphics unit, clock up to 1.4GHz speed and is mostly used on mid-range smartphones. This is the first time Infinix Mobility will use a Qualcomm-powered chip (and not MediaTek) on their products.

The processor may not be the best out there but it has proven to provide a decent and above average performance on devices it has been used on. Regarding storage, the Hot S3 comes with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of built-in memory. There is a Hybrid slot that allows for expansion of storage and can take up to 128GB of Micro SD card.

Camera

Infinix Hot S3

Devices in the “Hot S” line up of Infinix phones all have one thing in common: stunning front facing camera. The Infinix Hot S3 doesn’t stray away from the group’s objective as it features a stunning 20-megapixels front-facing camera accompanied by not one, but two LED flashlights. The selfie camera is one of the major selling points of the Hot S3 and given the age of social media we presently live in, 20MP selfie cam will definitely give the device an edge over other mid-range 18:9 aspect ratio phones in the market.

On the rear, there is a single 13-megapixel camera at the top-left corner and dual LED flash directly below it. Like the front-facing camera, the rear lens also has a wide f/2.0 aperture for improved low-light photography.

Battery, Connectivity & Software

With the Android v8.0 Oreo operating system running on the Infinix Hot S3, the device becomes the first phone from the OEM to come out of the box running the latest Google OS. It would be recalled that the Infinix recently rolled out an over-the-air Oreo update for the Infinix Note 4. Furnishing its devices with the latest operating system is a good move from the China-based OEM.

To keep the Infinix Hot S3 up and running is a non-detachable 4,000mAh battery, the highest battery capacity on any device from the ‘Hot S’ series. The device comes with support for 2G, 3G and 4G LTE networks.

Infinix Hot S3 Price and Availability

Infinix Hot S3

The Infinix Hot S3 has been launched at is exclusively available on SLOT at a pre-order price of N2,000. Pre-order will only last 5 days (March 22 – 25) and the Hot S3 original price is N62,200.

Conclusion

The fact that Infinix Mobility listens to what its customers want and clamour for — as well as adjusting to Industry’s trend — is cool, and laudable. However, the OEM took too much time to subsequently effect these changes on its products. Jumping to catch a moving bus may be dangerous, and risky. But hey! It’s better late than never.. yeah?
