THL Knight 2 Specifications, Price and Review

THL Knight 2 Specifications, Price and Review

Technology Happy Life (abbreviated as THL) is one of the many original equipments manufacturer (OEM) that make up the crowded Chinese gadgets production ecosystem. The company, which was founded in 2012, have been around for a while now and steadily churns out decent devices, particularly budget phones. 2017 was somewhat a quiet year for the company but the OEM is starting 2018 with a bang!

The first THL phone for 2018 is the THL Knight 2; a budget phablet which sports trending features like full view display, dual rear camera, 18:9 aspect ratio and serves as the upgrade to last year’s THL Knight 1 smartphone. The OEM made some adjustments to the predecessor and the end result is a more refined device in the name of THL Knight 2.

THL KNIGHT 2 In-depth Specifications

Display & Design

THL Knight 2

Compared to the Knight 1, the THL Knight 2’s body design and form will impress you. The device comes in a smoothly polished curved metal material of colours Black, Blue, and Silver covering the rear. The rear is glossy and mirror-like in appearance. While that is a good aesthetics property, it does retain smears of fingerprints that may dull out the beauty of the glossiness.

Still, when compared to the Knight 1 that was released months ago, you may however not like the fact that the Knight 2 has become bigger, bulkier and heavier. These could be blamed on the increase in screen and battery size.

THL Knight 2

The device has an 88% screen-to-body ratio with the 6.0-inch HD+ display covered by a scratch-resistant 2.5D curved glass infused with Corning Gorilla Glass system of screen protection.

Performance, Storage & Memory

On the inside, the Knight 2 uses one of the top-class mid-range system-on-a-chip – the MediaTek MT6750 SoC. The CPU has a 64-bit architecture and comes with 8-cores, each clocking up to 1.5GHz frequency. In terms of storage and memory, 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage complements the CPU.

You can expect to multitask fluently on this device without difficulty or lag. In addition, in case the device tuns out of storage space, the memory slot allows for expansion up to 128GB.

Camera

Like many mid-range smartphones being released by many OEMs lately, the THL Knight 2 comes with a total of three cameras. As you’d expect, 2 out of these cameras are on the rear and are of 13MP and 5MP in terms of primary and secondary lens quality respectively. On the flip side, just right above the display is an 8-megapixels front facing camera in charge of taking selfies.

The rear camera comes with two LED flash to complement the rear cameras with an f/2.2 aperture. This aperture is small and will result to poor image quality in low light conditions. On the front, there is a single LED flash.

Battery, Connectivity & Software

Powered by a 4,200mAh Lithium-Ion battery, the THL Knight 2 runs the Android v7.0 Nougat operating system and supports 2G, 3G, and 4G LTE networks. With the onboard OS, users would enjoy some features like efficient power management, refined split-screen multitasking mode, battery optimization etc.

The device supports wireless charging but the charging pad/mat doesn’t come with the device out of the box. You would have to purchase it as an individual accessory.

THL KNIGHT 2 Price and Availability

On GearBest, the device is presently available at a flash sale price of $165.99.
