Samsung Galaxy S9: launch date, release date, and every other dates you need to know

The next and upcoming flagship of the “Big S” tech company, the Samsung Galaxy S9 have been assigned dates; for launch, pre-order, and release.

Though the upcoming flagship was initially confirmed by GSMArena to be launched at the Mobile World Congress 2018 (MWC 2018), new leaks and information that recently surfaced however goes further to reveal exact and specific dates as to the release of the device.

Samsung Galaxy S9 Launch Date – February 26, 2018

Samsung Galaxy S9 Release Date

Going by renowned smartphone leak expert, Evan Blass, the Samsung Galaxy S9 and its bigger version, the Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus will both be launched on the 26th of February 2018, which coincides with the day the MWC 2018 event will commence.

According to a C-level executive at a major casemaker, the go-to-market schedule for Galaxy S9 / S9+ is as follows:

Launch – 2/26
Pre-orders – 3/1
Ships/releases – 3/16

— Evan Blass (@evleaks) January 16, 2018

Samsung Galaxy S9 Release Date – March 16, 2018.

Surprisingly, the pre-order of the Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus will also begin the same day the MWC 2018 ends. And 15 days after the conclusion of the pre-order, Samsung will begin official sale and shipping of the devices to customers.

The Samsung Galaxy S9 will be succeeding last year’s Galaxy S8, which was a success no doubts.

The Galaxy S9, like the iPhone 8 and iPhone X is expected to launch with glass covering on the front and back with Corning Gorilla 5 protection mechanism. In addition to this, the Galaxy S9 will come out-of-the-box with Android Oreo 8.0 operating, Bixby Assistant and the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 SoC.

The Snapdragon 845 SoC was recently announced by Qualcomm and is expected to bring on improved performance, better power efficiency, and improved image processing to smartphones in 2018.

The bigger variant, the Galaxy S9 Plus will use the latest version of Samsung’s native Exynos 9810 chipset. It is also believed that the Galaxy S9 Plus will sport a dual camera set-up on the rear while the standard Galaxy S9 will have just a single sensor.

Details about battery, dimensions, weight and other specifications are not available at the moment but definitely would surface as the launch date of the devices draws nearer.
