Elephone U Pro with Dual Cameras & Android 8.0 Oreo: Specs & Price

Elephone U Pro with Dual Cameras & Android 8.0 Oreo: Specs & Price

The Elephone U Pro along with its standard variant, the Elephone U are the first smartphones from Chinese OEM Elephone in 2018, and if you were expecting great things from the brand this year, you won’t be disappointed. The Elephone U Pro combines great internal features like 6GB of RAM and a mid-range Snapdragon processor with a great body design.

Elephone was frequently in the news in 2017 for the Elephone S8 smartphone which, like many of the company’s recent devices, is a clone of a flagship device like the Samsung Galaxy S8, but with the Elephone U series, it’s hard to say which device the company is emulating.

Sure, it shares its design language with some flagship smartphones launched last year, but there is a form of uniqueness with the Elephone U Pro. We’re looking to slaughter the device here on Techyne in a proper Elephone U Pro Review, but for now here are the smartphone’s specifications, features, and how you can buy it.

Elephone U Pro In-depth Specifications

Elephone U Pro Colour Options

Design & Display

The Elephone U Pro is close to a phablet in this department, featuring a 5.99-inch AMOLED display that’s protected with Corning Gorilla Glass 5. The display has a Full HD+ (1,080 * 2,160) pixel resolution which together with its display size, yields a pixel density of 403 PPI. This delivers good colours with a sharp contrast ratio, and the display quality on the phone is applaudable.

Elephone U Pro Display

The Elephone U Pro is covered with glass on the front and rear, and the frames are made of metal to give it a good grip. The smartphone comes with an 18:9 aspect ratio which means that it will be convenient to operate one-handedly despite its large screen size. The screen is also sleek to swipe on as it is made with 3D curved glass on both sides.

As you would expect from a smartphone with this type of aspect ratio, the Elephone U Pro uses on-screen buttons for navigation. It weighs 166 grammes and is just 8.4 millimetres thick.

Performance, Storage & Memory

The Elephone U Pro is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 processor which uses eight cores (octa-core) and can operate at a top speed of 2.2GHz. This is a mid-range processor, but it’s sufficient for running high-end applications and performing heavy tasks seamlessly, and the Adreno 512 GPU handling its graphics operations does an excellent job.

In terms of storage and memory, the Elephone U Pro is available in two variants, the first (base model) with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage, and the second (top-end model) with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. Both variants can be fitted with an external microSD card with a size of up to 128GB to expand the default storage.

Camera

Like most smartphones nowadays, the Elephone U Pro sports dual cameras on its rear, the primary one being a 13MP RGB lens and the secondary one being a 13MP Monochrome lens. Together, these cameras capture clear images with professional Bokeh effect, and the dual LED flash on the rear make low-light photography better.

An 8MP camera is also present upfront for taking selfies, and a LED flash beside it helps brighten objects in low-light conditions.

Battery, Connectivity & Software

The Elephone U Pro packs 3,550mAh battery that can deliver up to a day of battery life on heavy usage, and the smartphone supports quick charging. It comes with a dual Nano SIM slot and has support for 4G LTE network connectivity.

The Elephone U Pro runs on Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box, and the company has promised to deliver the latest version of the Android operating system, Android 8.0 Oreo to the smartphone later in a software upgrade.
