Onda V80; the $85 tablet PC suitable for work and play

Onda V80: tablets don’t have to be expensive no more

Onda Mobile Communication (popularly referred to as Onda) is an electronic manufacturer with its base in Italy and China. The OEM has its beam (read: focus) on tablet and laptop PC production. Though still a budding brand that really could use every tad bit of advertising and publicity it could get, it makes some helluva amazing tablets PCs.

The Onda V80 joins the league of many other tablets carrying the “Onda” emblem and with the V80, a mix of affordability and class makes up the cream on the cake. Peek the specs of the Onda V80 tablet below.

Onda V80 In-depth Specifications

Display & Design

Onda V80

On the V80, Onda didn’t really put much energy into the design and overall aesthetic of the tablet. The plastic body, likewise the Blue and Pink available colours doesn’t resonate premium-ness – goes a long way to giving out the tablet as cheap.

Irrespective, there are some construction properties to love about the Onda V80 tablet.

Onda V80

The top of the Onda V80 tablet houses the 3.5mm headphone jack, micro USB port and a HDMI port for duplicating the tablet’s display to larger screens.

Components on the rear include the primary camera in a clear black capsule-shaped cut-out dashboard and the loudspeaker, at the bottom-right corner.

Onda V80

Viewing the Onda V80 from the rear also reveals the micro SD card slot. The slot is always open and while this allows for ease of TF card insertion, removal and swapping, it could also be detrimental as liquid and dirt/particles are allowed easy entry.

Onda V80

The Onda V80 tablet comes with an 8.0 inch screen. The display size makes it perfect for work and tablet lovers or users who aren’t fans of carrying big device around. The display type is IPS LCD and this gives off bright images, colours and amazing viewing angles.

Performance, Storage & Software

The Onda V80 tablet uses the All Winner A64 SoC. Being a budget tablet, the All Winner SoC is a great choice – it costs only $5. The All Winner A64 SoC has Quad Cortex-A53 cores and clocks up to 1.3GHz frequency.

The Onda V80 comes in two types on the basis of storage properties. There’s a V80 tablet with 1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage. That can get some petty tablet works done decently but do you run your business or major office works on your tablet? You should opt for the version with 2GB and 16GB built-in storage capacity. More storage space and faster multitasking!

Interestingly, the V80 tablet allows storage expansion up to 128GB via the open micro SD card slot and runs the Android Nougat v7.0 operating system.

Camera & Battery

Just like many tablets out there, the Onda V80 doesn’t do really great, camera-wise.

Onda V80

On the rear, there is a 2-megapixel lens and a 0.3-megapixel lens on the front. Some features of the rear camera include Autofocus, Self-timer, Touch focus, Face detection, HDR and more.

Onda embedded a colossal 4,200mAh Lithium-Ion battery in the V80. The tablet’s got more than enough juice to cater for daily work and play needs. However, there’s a downside – no Quick Charge. This gives the device about 3-4 hours of charge time… and that’s a lot of time to charge a tablet (or any gadget).

Onda V80 Price and Availability

As mentioned earlier, the Onda V80 is a pocket-friendly tablet. It isn’t the tablet to dig deep into one’s pocket to buy. Oh, the title of this article gives the price away already: the Onda V80 costs only $85. $84.99 actually, and you can cop yourself a unit on GearBest using the link below.
