Is the $200 Alfawise Tab a Tablet PC worth buying?

Is the $200 Alfawise Tab a Tablet PC worth buying?

Buying a tablet is just as difficult as buying a smartphone. Because like everything else worth buying, you’ve got to put some things into consideration before making the purchase decision.

Tablets are no longer as common and needed as they used to be. In fact, as statistics have shown, demand for tablets and their overall shipping have declined over the years…and is still on the decline.

But surely, they can’t go into extinction. Tablets are still very much needed and useful. Be it for work, play, entertainment, learning or what have you. It is in that spirit we would be looking at the recently released tablet from Alfawise, a company specialized in the manufacture of appliances like kitchen stand mixers, TV Boxes, hand blenders, meat grinders all the way to ice cream makers, wireless doorbells, and vacuum cleaners for windows and floors.

The company’s new move was the introduction of a tablet PC, its first, the Alfawise Tab. This device marks the company’s trial at smartphone and tablet production.

The Alfawise Tab is an Android-powered WiFi tablet that was launched in September 2017 with a pretty affordable and catchy price tag.

Let’s dissect the tab and see if it’s worth it or not?

Alfawise Tab Specs

Here is a summary of what the Alfawise Tab brings to the table:

Alfawise Tab In-depth Specifications

Display & Design

If there is anything I loved first about the Alfawise Tab, it has got to be the slimness and the fine metal finish. It is something you would love too.

Alfawise Tab

The device comes with a general body dimension of 204 mm x 135 mm x 7.0 mm. Only 7.0mm thick, the slimness level for the Alfawise Tab, being a tablet is amazing. Stunning.

Alfawise Tab

The device comes with a 7.9-inch IPS display of 2048 x 1536 pixels resolution and a quite high pixel density (345 PPI). This means truer images, bright and deep colours. The display size also makes it suitable for ease of carriage and mobility. You can carry the Alfawise Tab almost everywhere, thanks to its compact and petite size.

Performance, Storage & Memory

The Alfawise Tab is powered by a Quad-core MediaTek MT8173 SoC. Two of the cores are Cortex-A53 with a max frequency of 2.0GHz while the other two cores are Cortex-A72 and clock a speed of 1.6GHz.

Alfawise Tab

Though old, the MediaTek MT8173 was introduced as far back as 2015 and is considered a true Quad-core processor. The processor delivers improved performance while using very little power.

The tablet is equipped with 4GB of RAM and 64GB internal storage memory. The storage capacity should do well enough to store whatever it is you can possibly store on a tablet. But sadly, if it doesn’t, there is no save for expansion as the Tab doesn’t have an external SD card space/slot.

Camera

Alfawise Tab

The Alfawise Tab features an 8-Megapixels shooter on the rear and has one of the best selfie cameras on a tablet. The Alfawise Tab comes with a 5-Megapixels.

Battery, Connectivity & Software

The Alfawise Tab comes with a non-removable Lithium-Ion battery. And guess how large the battery is – 6,200mAh large!

Now imagine how many movies you can watch on the tablet. Or how many hours of gameplay it would permit. Whether you own a tablet for work or play purposes, you definitely need a battery decent enough to keep it up and running. And that’s what the Alfawise Tab is offering.

The tablet runs on the Android Marshmallow 6.0 operating system.

Alfawise Tab Price and Availability

The Alfawise Tab was price below $200 when it first launched. But at the moment, the device cost little more than $200. For $207 only, you can own a unit of Alfawise’s first ever tablet PC.

You can purchase the Alfawise Tab on GearBest through the link below.

Now to the big question:

Is the $200 Alfawise a tablet PC worth buying?

  • The tab is super slim. Easy to carry around and hold in the hands.
  • Huge battery backup. Game, work and do stuff as you like. There’s enough juice for that.
  • Low power consuming processor.
  • Great front-facing (selfie) camera
  • Great display quality

Cons

  • No SIM card
  • No Fast Charging/Quick Charge
  • No Micro SD slot
  • Android Marshmallow OS

Verdict

The Alfawise Tab is worth the money. Though it lacks some basic stuff like SIM card and SD card slot, the other specs it packs are worth the $200 price. I am particularly like the huge battery backup.

receiced my Alfawise this month from Gearbest-disappointed to find that it is not Google certified not withstanding that it comes preinstalled with many Google apps, as such Netflix and DSTV do not support it and will not play their movies or series. That is a main requirement for me.
